No. Captains and Drivers are independent contractors. They set their own rate and are hired and paid by you. Most accept digital payments such as Venmo and Zelle for your convenience.
Don’t let the Captain’s rate be your deciding factor. Some give themselves the title without a USCG Mariners license. True licensed Captains go through years of practical training, participate in a DOT drug testing program, undergo a background check by Homeland Security, are medically cleared and regularly reviewed by the United States Coast Guard. An experienced Captain is the most imported safety feature on your boat! A sudden change in weather or an illness, injury or accident requires swift action by an experienced Master. Don’t let a few dollars come between your loved one’s safety! Everyone wants to have lasting memories of their vacation adventures, let’s make sure they’re all happy ones!
There’s so much to explore on our waterways! Take a harbor cruise and see the homes and yachts of our rich and famous. Snorkel the East Jetty, hunt for seashells and seahorses at the Grass Flats or cruise around looking for dolphins. Bird watchers will enjoy spotting nesting bald eagles, osprey and blue heron. Others may enjoy bar hopping by boat for the perfect tropical cocktail or tying up at the dock of a seaside restaurant. If you’re feeling waterlogged, let’s drive the bow of the boat up to a secluded beach for a peaceful walk through the sand.
You’re always welcome to pack your own food and drinks. Most days you’ll see various vendors at Crab Island selling everything from peanuts, pineapple and pickles to bbq, tacos, burgers and Chick-fila sandwiches. Food on the water comes at a premium price. Most vendors accept cash, cards, ApplePay and Venmo.
NO! Crab Island is overseen by the National Park Service and part of Gulf Islands National Seashore. While alcohol is allowed to be consumed, sales are prohibited. Bring plenty! It’s better to have more than you need than run out too early!
NO. Please wait! Our weather is constantly changing. A forecast is only a prediction. Fronts can stall, move faster than anticipated or evaporate completely. It can rain on only one side of the street! Talk to your Captain. We work everyday on the water and are experienced in reading changing conditions.
Cooler with iced drinks, food or snacks. Hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and towels. If you’re bringing toddlers don’t forget a favorite toy or something they reach for when tired or anxious. Older children may want a beach or pool toy to stay engaged.
While weekdays are optimal for family fundays, an experienced Captain will know where to anchor your family on busy weekends too.
